August 20 SSBS Cycling Open Points RaceThe SSBS Cycling Team are organising a Points Race starting at Sheepscombe Village Hall Car Park on 1st November 2009 at 11am. The event is open to any rider, but they must pre-enter using the entry form provided. Scroll down to the Download Zone to access more information and the entry form.
Basically this is what you’re getting into…
It’s a points race designed to ensure close and exciting racing whatever the rider’s ability. It is held over 4 laps of a challenging 4 mile course with three distinctly different sections: King of the Mountains, Flat Road Sprint and Woodland Downhill. Points are scored at the end of each section (called Primes). Riders accumulate points during the race. A handicap system ensures the better riders have to work harder than the less experienced or skilled riders. The Rider with the most points at the end of the race is the winner.
After the race a well deserved drink will be enjoyed in the Butcher’s Arms in Sheepscombe and the usual gongs handed out for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed riders and of course the wooden spoon prize.
